Biography

Dr Hanin is a pharmacist and neuroscientist who trained both at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital (Paris, France) and Yale School of Medicine (New Haven, CT, USA). Her primary research interests relate to epilepsy, specifically to status epilepticus and New-Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus (NORSE). Her research projects aim to:
  1. identify new biochemical biomarkers for the diagnosis of status epilepticus, monitor patients during their hospitalization, and predict their short- and long-term outcomes.
  2. identify novel pathophysiological mechanisms linked to the consequences of status through both targeted and untargeted analyses conducted in animal models and biospecimens from patients with status epilepticus
  3. characterize the immune dysregulations that trigger the onset or consequences of NORSE
