Molecular exploration

The core facilities of the ICM provide scientific support for researchers at all stages of their projects: from the molecule to the person. These facilities are organized in six thematic groups called silos.
Open / close summary

The molecular explorations silo consists of two platforms. The first performs sequencing and genotyping of the genome, the long molecules of DNA that make up the chromosomes, to detect genes, their eventual mutations and possible associations between these mutations and the manifestations of neurological diseases.

The second activity involves genetic manipulations, notably with the help of viruses used as transporters. This type of technology forms the basis of gene therapy (acting on genes) that ICM researcher hope to use to “repair” abnormal DNA in patients.
