Jean Todt

President of the FIA
Vice-President of the Institut du Cerveau – ICM

« During my entire career I have had the opportunity to meet extraordinary people, among whom professor Gérard Saillant. Together we felt the need to do something to help others. This is why we have brought together personalities from various horizons who share the desire to commit personally to creating a research centre focusing on the brain and the spinal cord where the potential for improvement is immense. We are aware of the scope of the project and the obstacles ahead … but also and especially of the formidable hope it represents. With our ‘dream team’ and the support of all those who accept to help us, the Institut du Cerveau – ICM will quickly become a reality. »

louis-camilieri

Louis Camilleri

President of Altria

« I have been particularly impressed by the generosity and motivation of the initiators. But equally by the considerable number of pathologies that the Institut du Cerveau – ICM focuses on … So if my contribution however modest can help this institution take form and change the life of those who are struck by these diseases of the brain and the spinal cord, it will not have been in vain. »

jean-glavany

Jean Glavany

Former minister
Executive Director of the Institut du Cerveau – ICM

« The Institut du Cerveau – ICM project is a generous idea carried by a group of friends wanting to make it come true. But this human adventure will only succeed if we manage to bring thousands of people to help it along. I try to bring my modest experience to the team by forging links and potential institutional partnerships with ministries, the regional authority, the city of Paris, the university, the public hospitals of Paris, the Caisse des Dépôts and major research organisations. »

« The sheer number and complexity of diseases involving the brain, the spinal cord and the nervous system are on the rise. A great initiative was required to bring together scientists around a grand design. Institut du Cerveau – ICM has achieved this and it is probably the most significant initiative in medical research in the past 50 years involving people of exceptional talent, devotion and quality. »

« By nature a lawyer is somebody who cares about others, putting his energy and knowledge at the service of the causes he seeks to further. At the Institut du Cerveau – ICM I have been fortunate enough to meet exceptional people committed to a common project, a great cause. So yes, I’m happy to get involved personally and bring the support and know-how of my law firm. This will be my contribution, of which I am proud, to the realization of the Institut du Cerveau – ICM and its success. »

max-mosley

Max Mosley

ex-President of the FIA

« The FIA Foundation has chosen to support the Institut du Cerveau – ICM, as the most serious traumatic conditions linked to road accidents are unfortunately brain and spinal cord damage. This type of accident remains too frequent. The research conducted by the Institut du Cerveau – ICM will help to develop efficient treatments for this kind of lesions. Thus our support is conform to the goals set within our international campaign for road safety. »

Michael Schumacher

Formula 1 pilot

« At the beginning, my interest in the Institut du Cerveau – ICM was motivated by strictly personal reasons, and in particular the strong relationship with Jean Todt and Gérard Saillant. I was certain that I could trust them completely. This was and still is very important to me. The idea of creating a research centre is fascinating from many points of view: because it will help the understanding of how the brain works and to find solutions and cures. Those privileged by life have the duty to help those who are less fortunate and especially those who suffer. Thus I believe that my duty is to help them accomplish this project. My role in the Institut du Cerveau – ICM was initially to help financially. Today I would like to put my notoriety at the service of the Institut du Cerveau – ICM in order to publicize the project, in particular by approaching companies which may join our cause. »
